I can't say the word INSURANCE enough for this industry. All the dealerships and individuals are as ignorant as you can ask for when it comes to insurance requirements for the Auto Transport Industry. Another truck burned an axel in Florida and burned up a few nice cars to go along with it. Yes, it happened again. An UNDER INSURED trucking company will go belly up because it doesn't have the money to pay back the customers for their cars which were totaled. Sorry to here it Mr. & Mrs. Customers. Wheather you are a Dealership or an Individual shipping their car, you must check your transporters and your brokers insurance. Stop being penny wise and dollar foolish. Over 125,000 dollars in value of cars are not getting paid for and you the customer are screwed out of your money. Why? Because your personal policy will not pay while the car is in transit. Read your policies. If you hired the company then why should your insurance company pay for your total loss. It wasn't your insurance companies fault. They will tell you the same thing I am telling you. Which is do your homework before you give someone your vehicle... We broker out a ton of cars every year. The most important thing you need to do is qualify your drivers insurance policies. Make sure there isn't a Co-Insurance.. And if there is make sure they have one. Another item to look for is a high cargo limit that they need to carry. Everyone makes the same stupid mistake and looks at the transport companies Liability Limits. Who really cares about that.. That only covers the transporter if they hit someone. It has nothing to do with their CARGO INSURANCE. That is what you the customer need to look at closely. If the transporter only has 100,000 dollars in cargo insuance, that means the value of the entire load they carry should not exceed that amount. Well guess what! Everyone exceeds their limits. If you carry 1 new mercedes SL550 which is valued at 100k, then that should be the only car on the truck. So make sure you have the right company to move your car... Tell your broker that you would like to know their cargo limits and what other cars are on his load... If the broker say's he doesn't know or he or she can't get you that answer then you need to find someone else that carries the right insurance. (GOOOOOOOOD LUCK). Now on the other hand, lets look at www.Dealerschoiceautotransport.com . We have a contingent cargo policy which always covers your cars & qualifies you the customer to be covered no matter what.
TIP of the Day-- Before you hire your transport company, please make sure you hire a company thats insured. Dealers Choice Partial Client List:
